homework, one without distractions from the television, other
family members or video games.
- My child has a desk/table with good lighting.
- My child has all of the supplies needed—pens, pencils,
crayons, scissors, glue—in his homework area so that
time is not wasted looking for these supplies.
- My child does homework at the same time every day.
- My child has a homework schedule/calendar and follows it
daily.

cannot be used as an excuse to avoid doing homework.

PLUS! 6 Expert Tips on Keeping your Child on Track with
Homework
- Remember, homework is the child’s work.
- A parent’s role is that of advisor and checker.
- Write
a note or phone the teacher if your child doesn’t seem
to understand a concept.
- Praise your child’s effort and good work.
- If your child says his homework was done in class, check
it.
- If he says there is no homework and it goes on for several
days, ask the teacher. Don’t assume the child is always
